My experience as a client in the threshold showed me that anythign can happen! To stand back and watch what is happening with the client to help guide them by pointing out what you see happening for them that they may not notice- ie body language/how they were walking slumped them confidently, to helo see th big picture when they may be more focused/ perspective. Just holding space for them to explore on their own and someone tokeep you on tracj of your intetntion is very helpful. Each experience will be differnte for each client and with each coach, trust my instincts.
Nature participated by representing diffetn aspects of the issue clearly so I could see it in a new perspective adn by leading by example in what I want to achieve i nlife. With coaching otheres that tells me that the client needs to be open to seeing symbolisms in nature and I need to watch for them too to help guide the client if they need help learning to see them. It will be differetn each time and each client will see/feel things differently than the next. Knowing my client will help me better know how they see things, what thet are open to and how to guide them. (Not everyone will be totally open to hugging a tree lol).
I made a list of the core competencies needed and realized I’d listed all of them.

What I am taking away from this module is that we are, and everyone is connected to nature in their own unique way. Everyone understands it, or tries to understand it, in their own way, wether that be scientifically, spiritually, etc, We will all express it differently in our coaching practices, and also with each client. I think that’s what makes this so exciting, no 2 session will ever be the same and we’ll never get bored! Ecopsychology tries to explain the why/how and coaching is the doing. Ecopsychology/psychology and NCC can compliment each other.

Sheri, the quote you stated from Psyche and nature in a cirlce of healing resonated very much with me as well. Coming home from the intensvie, back to the “normal ” world felt anythign BUT normal and there have definitely been some changes since then. In your quote form Psyche meets Gaia I was reminded of seeing something I read that was along the lines of the Earth will survive what we do, even if we don’t.

I feel that both Ecopsychology and coaching are studies/practices of how humans relate, to others/nature and themselves.
In my notes I have beside “Psyche and Nature in a Circle of Healing” that I liked this and took it to mean that our pain equals the earth’s pain and what we’ve done to each other.
I believe that Nature Connected Coaching brings people to appreciate nature and their environment which leads them to making more conscious choices and taking better care of the environment, themselves and others.
In Ecopsychology- The principles #5 when it speaks of ethical responsibility to the planet I felt like I have more of a responsibility to the planet than to people.
The eco psychology side is more based on the scientific side which may be helpful to some, where as coaching is more metaphors and symbolisms, so between the 2 there is room for everyone!
They are symptoms/ diagnosis/ treatment vs exploring/ discovering/ moving forward, expert vs equal.
I feel like Ecopsychology is a “new” way of trying to explain what nature connection, coaching and mentorship has now for a very long time

There was a lot of mention of being interconnected in our online discussion, how nature is interconnected, how we are interconnected. Before our camping trip at Gunnison I knew nature was interconnected, the trees with each other, etc, but I don’t think it was until that week that I really realized how interconnected us humans could be, to people who are practically strangers, at such a deep way so quickly, and I know nature contributed to that. In each practice coaching session, there was something I could relate to, something I could learn about myself while guiding the client, or watching another person’s session.
There is more and more research coming to light on how important nature connection is and I am excited to help bring this to light in the world.

    Hi Shari
“it was as though I had been building a new neural pathway for years” totally resonates with me. I guess that’s why “they“ call it a journey:).

Taking the path of least resistance- such a great reminder to not over complicate things! I think I often get stuck in that while coaching- trying to figure out things because they seem “too simple”

I’ve said I don’t like change so reading what you wrote of knowing change in nature is consistent and constant really stuck with me.

I’m happy to be with you, all of us, on this path together too <3

Hi Shari!! I am so happy to hear from you!!! I’ve been wondering how you are, well I hope….Your post was such a great summary of the readings and well said. One of my favourite (I love that I spell this with a u and am always thinking of all of my new friends in the US with these sorts of things these day 🙂 ) parts is wehn you said ” peoples’ seeming disconnect with nature is a symptom of their disconnection with self. And while people are often not aware of this disconnect they are aware of a sense of discomfort with their life in general and often seek ways and means to feel better”. I find this to be so very true. Looking back at my life when I was disconnected from nature was when I was also disconnected from myself.I didn’t see it at the time, but do now. It makes we wonder which happened first. Kind of like a chicken or the eggg dilemma.

Hi Matt!! I love that you mentioned the environmentalist protection part of the readings. For me that’s where it all started, a big part of what I want is to get poeple to connect with nature so they will take better care of it. I would LOVE to get a tree planting permit and have ppl plant trees at teh end of their coaching programs. I also feel like environmtal protection/activism can be diffetn for all of us. For some people it’s teh wter, lastic free oceans, healhty salmon. For oters it’s soil conservation, erosion control…. For me is advocating for the halt of logging, espeacilly old gorwth, and even with that ther are many ways to go about it. On that note ere’s a couple links I am sure I told you all about before, and will again 🙂 https://www.ancientforestalliance.org

Kim, I totally agree with treatment plans vs process, and also feel like the “ology” part makes people think/assume there is something “wrong” with them. I hadn’t heard of not pickeing hte first orlast from plants that Mandy mentioned on the plant walk, and I love it, adn have told my daughter adn her friends this too even if it was just about the dandeliions on the front lawn :).
Thanks for the link, I’ll have to check it out!

    For sure!
Grounding- I picture roots growing out my feet down into the centre of the earth and wrapping around the core of the earth, with excess energy being released into mother earth. Can also be done with picturing a green ball of energy as the centre of the earth coming up through the roots, up your legs across your hips and back down the other leg.
Cleansing- picturing white light going over, through me
Protection- picturing gold light going in my head, down my spine, out my feet, overflowing into my aura.
And newly learned, cutting etheric chords- (cutting energy chords between 2 ppl). I’m not too familiar with archangels, but this makes a big difference for me. breath deep, evenly throughout, ask archangel Michale to cut the etheric cords that are attached that you no longer want or need while making a cutting motion in front of you with your dominant hand. right after ask Archangel Rafeal to fill the empty spots left behind with beautiful healing energy. Thank both for their help.

Nadine, I totally agree with feeling distracted, difficulty concentrating, etc. My neighbourhood feels so much louder than it did before. I definitely feel more irritable and like too many things are demanding my attention. Even the crows in the morning seem so demanding compared to the quieter birds in Gunnison.

Amber, I love the sounds of an awareness outreach component to your business! My sideline topic is often education and hopeful eradication of old-growth logging.

Sheri and Amber, reading about you wanting to “bring back the mountain top” rings so true to me. It’s getting harder as the mornings are warmer and noisier, but before I even get out of bed in the morning I lay there with my eyes closed and take slow deep breaths and pretend I am there in my tent or the hammock. I have also reintroduced a forgotten grounding, cleansing, protection routine after that, and then added doing the 7 breaths and journaling. (This went a little sideways the last few days camping, but got back on track being home this morning). I just want to hold on to that “bubble” we had up there. I feel like the genuine connection with self, others, and nature on the intensive trip has shown me what I truly want in my day to day life connections. Regular every day chit chat, beating around the bush, and “I’m fine”s just don’t cut it anymore.
