Hey Cohort, I decided to sit down this morning and read all the posts all over again from the beginning of this Foundation 4 discussion. And I got to say that what I have read and witnessed from you all has been nothing short of inspiring.
What I have noticed over the last 4 foundation discussions is that there truly is an ebb and flow that you are all experiencing along your journey. There will be highs and there will be lows, but the most important thing is how you have all chosen to move forward and grow from these experiences. I remember there was a lot of discord and frustration earlier in some of the Foundation discussions, but it seems like none of you have allowed those feelings to stop you from moving forward. And the beautiful thing is that this is all part of the natural process.
I’m so glad to see how committed and intentional on sticking with your vision, even if it may seem a little daunting, and taking the right steps and action to understanding how you all can serve in your own unique and pivotal ways.
The journey for you all through EBI and into creating this vision in your mind will definitely be a roller coaster, but I think more importantly than that is that I want you all to know I am honored to be with you guys on this journey. Reading what you all have written and communicating with you all in person over the last few months has been very impactful for me as well. Much gratitude to all of you guys and can’t wait to see you all in person in a week!

Josh, I admire and appreciate the honesty you share with us in your post. I am sure it was not easy to admit your struggle, but facing it and verbalizing it is where our strength lies!
Acknowledging and knowing that you have all the tools inside of you is the first step toward authentic soul-connection, but the journey only starts there. You said “my life SEEMS full of obstacles” and “perceived obstacles” tells me that you are aware that the lens through which you are seeing things can and needs to be changed. We can play the victim role on our journey and allow these perceived obstacles to get in our way, but like a tiny mouse with a big shadow they are only an illusion once we really face them. Taking ownership and responsibility requires courage and bravery, but that is why we are here on this planet. Just like your daughter climbing over boulders with a smile on her face, so can you do the same.
And in my personal experiences I would say it’s not about being fearless. Fear is good. We need fear, but we also need to adjust our relationship it. See it, understand it, love it and still take action in spite of it. Use fear as fuel on the fire as you take steps toward becoming a life coach and keep using your daughters tenacity as a learning and growing experience on your own path. The sit spot is a great place to practice this relationship and perception.
I love what you have shared and I look forward to hearing more about your experience and what comes up for you during this course!

Wow Kaity, sounds like you’re getting a lot of great experience and gaining great insight working with this client. How all these toolbox models fit in your unique style of coaching is part of the learning process and I’m glad that you were able to integrate grounding exercises and change theory within the session.
As far as working toward deeper need, sometimes the first deeper need can be very apparent. For example, with this client it sounds like she needs to be grounded and present. And in order to dive deeper she must really get inside that way of being on a daily and consistent basis for her to be able to move to the next step.
It’s kind of like Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. We have to get the foundational needs met before we can start diving into the juicier stuff. And with this client it may be working together around consistently staying in a place of calm, groundedness, being present before moving on.
I look forward to our next zoom meeting. It looks like we have some exciting things to talk about from what you have shared. Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us!

Michael, I completely agree that soul direction is living from the heart. I believe the reason for that is because from our heart is where we truly feel and express emotion and soul direction is a way of being, not a way of doing. And our way of being in this world is powered by our emotional state on a micro and macro level. How we show up in this world, and the lens through which we view it, can be soul-directed and it starts when we align and attune our heart and our emotions within ourselves.
And that is where I believe clarity comes from. It comes from the daily practice of attunement within ourselves. And that is why nature is so important. Because in nature we can more easily get to that place within ourselves. I like how you were able to use the raven stone as symbolism for this question and that you gained a lot of value into your own experience from it. Thanks so much for sharing!

Melody, so cool to hear that you sense and experience the strong connection between soul and nature connection and how they feed off of each other. From what I hear, and this is from my own personal experience as well, is that nature is like a catalyst or an amplifier toward a more attuned soul connection. You feel it strongest in the great outdoors.
And the fact that you notice circles can be an indicator or message when you are attuned to soul. Maybe there is great depth and meaning for you there.
I also appreciate you sharing the value of other peoples posts on here as I hope to hear from everyone’s voice! This is a great place to learn and understand from each other!

Oh man this post has got me so stoked David! It sounds like you are really understanding how the Brain work portion integrates and shows up in a coaching session and that is so great to hear. To start off, I was glad to see that you were aware of the story your client was sharing, but that the deeper need was resourcing and grounding within herself when these situations arise. Which is both Brain and Trauma being used at the same time!
It sounds like you were also able to mix Brain and Trauma together by using the pendulating exercise that we learned in Trauma in order to raise your client from the low road circuitry to the high road circuitry. And through practicing that she is creating new channels and neural pathways that she can connect to and utilize when she experiences herself in that situation again. So awesome!
And lastly, becoming aware of where your client is currently in the 6 stages of change is huge! It really helps, like you said, to be aware of where your client is so that you know what the next step needed to be taken can be. And when it comes to Trauma-like scenarios with your client the looping from Contemplation to Planning to Action can happen several times as they refine how they want to show up and take action from that place. And when the client is able to create an action plan and practice it over and over then you are able to see the benefits and results in their personal and professional lives!
Keep up the good work and I look forward to hearing more about your insights and experiences!

Thanks for sharing all of this Cory! I think the path you are seeking and what we focus on here through Nature Connected Leadership will really support you on this journey. I also live in Denver and would be happy to meet in person to talk and explore more into what you learn through the program.

Karina, thank you so much for sharing your experiences, insights and struggles with soul and nature connection! I enjoyed most that you took your experience doing Plan B and made it into a learning opportunity for the work we will be doing together. We may not always make the right decisions in life, but that does not mean we cannot learn from them. It’s all apart of the learning and growing experience!
And you’re right about trauma. Practicing being in the present moment when we re-experience those past memories is where we can truly heal. I look forward to hearing more of your experiences and wisdom throughout the rest of this course!

Hey Josh thanks for sharing all of this! It sounds like it’s already been an exciting and interesting experience sitting with your Vision Council and experiencing soul-connection. I definitely agree that being willing to take the plunge into living and working from a soul-directed way can be scary at first, but that’s good! Living a soul-directed life for most of us requires us to expand our zone of comfort and expand to where it must be in order for us to live every minute of every day from a place of soul. It takes time, it definitely doesn’t happen overnight.
And Vision Council is always a fun and interesting exploration. It can be interesting who shows up and what insights they bring within our Vision Council and the people, places, things in it can change over time. Our Vision Council is dynamic and always slightly changing and refining throughout our whole life. Keep up the good work!

Wow! It sounds like you have a really smart kid! And I completely agree with your insights, our soul doesn’t speak to us in words as much as it does in feeling. Our soul is quiet to speak, but can be profound in the visceral and emotional experience. And when soul is speaking it is not from a place of social constructs and influences, but rather from your own inner wisdom that is lying already within you. It’s about tuning into the right frequency inside of us and then turning up the volume on that with practice and time. It sounds like nature is really able to be a catalyst for you to drop in to your soul connection and that is amazing to hear!
Thanks for sharing this!

Janet, thank you so much for sharing your experience and insights on soul connection with other people and yourself. It sounds like you’ve been able to “peel back the layers” of who we are as human beings and getting away from the surface level definition of who we are and down into that soul level. That place of pure love-based emotion that rings true when we communicate and connect from that soul level.
I really like how you bring the perspective of awareness of being at a soul-level with your patients, but also being aware of it within yourself. Asking this question and listening to the answers is one of the great reasons why we have a Sit Spot. Being intentional to use our Sit Spot as a place of asking this question and listening to the answer within ourselves and what we hear nature telling us as well. Nature has a great way of reflecting these profound answers within ourselves. And in nature it is much easier to drop into this soul-connected way of being so that we can become aware of what it looks like and feels like.
I look forward to hearing more of your insights as we progress through this course. It sounds like you have had some amazing and profound experience that we can all learn from!

Zach,
Thanks for sharing your insights on ideal clients and your vision with nature connected coaching. Your story about sharing your vision quest experience and it being heard by a person nearby which sparked their curiosity to learn more is a great example of how our vision can manifest when we least expect it.
As I’ve been chatting and listening to the stories of your other cohort members I have seen a trend of similar experiences where potential clients and like minded individuals are attracted to your story and experiences without you expecting it. It shows that just taking action on our path and sharing the stories of our experience can present potential connections in our community without us expecting it. And I think the moral of the story is that even if we are not sure what our next step is or where our vision is taking us, just putting ourselves out there in the world can present opportunities that we would never expect.
Look forward to chatting with you more about this and other topics next week when we meet for the F2F! Safe travels!

Mandy, I love the creativity and thinking outside the box with these questions! I look forward to digging into this more with you down the road and seeing what comes to light! My only two cents would be, as you explore this area more and more, to see if what commonalities these different ideal clients that you described are looking for? What trends or patterns, if any, do they all share? This might bring answers and it might not, but it could bring up some amazing discoveries as to your ideal client and their true deeper need.

Hannah this post got me super fired up! Reading your insights into where you are feeling the pull in coaching and your ideal client was very inspiring. The fact that you, and some of your other classmates, are aware of people doing what you are pursuing can really help in turning the vision of coaching into something real and tangible in the mind and not just a blurry idea. I look forward to hearing more about this as you dive into your unique version of coaching in the real world.

Really enjoyed reading this David! One thing you touched on, as well as some of the other posts on here, is that you are not only exploring your “ideal client” but also what the “ideal deeper need” is that you want to focus on. Diving into what deeper need that you are feeling called to will shed light on who your ideal clients are out there in the world. The more you focus on each of these areas the clearer you can see the “overall vision” or “north star” that you are taking steps daily toward. Great work!
